ITA Airways (or Italia Transporto Aereo) is the successor to Italian airline Alitalia, which was founded in 1946 and was owned by the Italian government until it became a private company in 2009. It remained private until 2020 when, during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was acquired once again by the Italian government and reorganized as ITA Airways.

Join the Volare program: Like many airlines, ITA Airways has a loyalty program that rewards frequent flyers. The Volare program is customizable depending on how often you travel and what your goals are. You’ll earn 10 points per euro spent (the conversion will be calculated no matter what currency you use to pay). As a bonus, you’ll get 20% off economy and premium economy travel or 10% off business-class travel when you sign up. As you gain points, you’ll move from Club Smart to Club Plus, Premium and Executive.
